Poems

Solo

From the April 1989 issue of The Christian Science Journal

You sing!

The hymn enfolds
my longing hopes
that seek some harmony afar off.

You sing!

The words are sweet,
and clear, and true
(the melody: pure peace).
The hymn embraces all I know.

You sing!

Not for applause.
Not to be heard.
You sing to hear,
to heal,
to keep voice tuned
to Christlike love.

Then rising
from my sorrow, fear, and pain,
I hear the voice of
gentle grace
and wrapped in song
with Him

We sing!
