Gratitude and love should abide in every heart each day of all the years," we read in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy. This gratitude I feel deeply for the Christian Science movement and for all the good that it has brought into the world.
At a time when I wished to train as a teacher, there seemed to be insufficient funds to see me through college. But remembering what I had learnt in the Christian Science Sunday School, that "with God all things are possible" (Matthew), I went ahead. Through prayer each necessity that arose was met, often in very unexpected ways.
At one time when my own prayers had failed to heal me of severe sinusitis, I telephoned a Christian Science practitioner for help. She conveyed such a sense of God's love for me that I walked away from the telephone booth completely healed. Study in Christian Science which I undertook at that time expanded my spiritual viewpoint. As a result, I was led out of an unhappy situation into interesting work in another country.
