Poems

Without fanfare

From the October 1990 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Mountains,...unscalable mental challenges,
solid physical problems, immovable material circumstances,
erode beneath God's penetrating words—
refreshing drops of Truth.
Barriers...dissolve swiftly under Spirit's steady flow,
break, and fall away, revealing Life's reflection good,
which, as once it seemed, in that mountain's shadow stood.
Jesus moved—in truth removed—the mountain myth from man
by healing thought. And promised we could find
unrestricted roads, level sun-drenched
plains of progress...freedom...forever safe in Mind.
Trumpets mute, timbrels quiet, no voices shouting at the peaks.
Yet, every looming lie disperses. Brought to dust
—as God's Christ speaks!
