I don't think it would be hard for anyone to believe that society could benefit from a useful perspective on the concepts of food and eating. Much of the world today is struggling with famine and starvation. And in more affluent areas there is an obsessive concern about food, weight, and the appearance of the human body that has led to dangerous measures for becoming thin as well as to severe eating disorders particularly prevalent among young people.
