Revelation, reason, demonstration . . . and gleaning

From the February 1991 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Healing was needed, and so I had prayed.

The "revelation" had come quite quickly—full of inspiration,
newness, power, and light.
"Reason" followed, too—logically, and according to Spirit's direction.
But the "demonstration" tarried.

What more do I need to know? I asked my Father.
What further truth, what deep unveiling is required here?

Then, quite simply, and straight from Scripture
He answered my question:
"Go not to glean in another field . . .
but abide here fast ...."Ruth 2:8.

The harvest was not yet past . . . there was gleaning still to do!
I must abide fast among the revelation and reason
that His Christ had already brought . . .
and be still.

Later that day, while I was "out gleaning,"
I found a kernel of truth so small that I had missed it before.
And yet . . . there . . . overflowing my heart,
that small kernel burst into demonstration,
healing came
and the harvest was full.
