Eleven years have passed since my published testimony about our daughter's healing of a weakened spine and facial deformity, which took place shortly after we adopted her. She has continued in good health, and she expresses joy and a love of Christian Science.
During the summer of 1989, our family and friends were enjoying a swim in our backyard pool when our daughter was badly stung by a wasp. She quietly got out of the pool and asked me to come into the house with her. As soon as we got inside, I saw that she was covered with blotches and blisters and that her face was rapidly swelling.
We spoke of God's loving protection and care and of her true, spiritual nature as God's child, which is perfect and remains unchanged. We also recognized that in reality God's creatures, governed by His law of good, are incapable of causing harm. She began to relax and to participate eagerly in recalling spiritual truths of God and man that she had learned at home and in her Christian Science Sunday School class. Then she asked to call a Christian Science practitioner for help through prayer, which we did.
