"How can intelligent people believe that healing of physical illness is possible through prayer alone?" "What if something serious happens?"
These were just some of the questions that bothered me as I got to know a family of Christian Scientists who moved to town during my sophomore year in high school. But over the summer months prior to my junior year, I found myself wondering about God and the true nature of Christianity. I began visiting the minister of my own church, seeking answers to my questions. While many questions remained, for the first time in my life I was voluntarily attending church and reading the Bible.
Shortly after the beginning of that school year, a discussion of spiritual healing with my Christian Scientist friend led to a loan of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and an invitation to my friend's Christian Science Sunday School class.
