One morning early in 1993 I got out of bed feeling very strange, and felt worse as I went about preparing to be on duty in the local Christian Science Reading Room. Since I had to be there by 9 a.m., I took care of my home routine and drove carefully, keeping ever in mind man's inseparability from God, who is my loving Father.
Then it became apparent to me that I was having a heart attack. Bible verses came immediately to my thought to strengthen me: "I will not fear what flesh can do unto me" (Ps. 56:4); also, "My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever" (Ps. 73:26).
As soon as I could I telephoned a practitioner, knowing that "if the Scientist reaches his patient through divine Love, the healing work will be accomplished at one visit, and the disease will vanish into its native nothingness like dew before the morning sunshine" (Science and Health, p. 365). My acceptance of that promise would soon find proof in healing.
