When I was a young girl I attended a Christian Science Sunday School for five years. I had no desire to join the church, however, until years later when I found myself in deep waters. Becoming active in a Christian Science church gave my life entirely new meaning. I was able to solve the problems that arose with prayer and Bible study. The verse from Romans, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God" (12:2), became vitally evident to me. I felt like a new and happy person, and that happiness I could share with others.
I would like to tell you of a recent healing. I live alone in an apartment. One Saturday I was hard at work with spring cleaning when I reached for something very awkwardly and fell. I didn't try to get up right away but immediately repeated "the scientific statement of being," praying with all my heart to understand its meaning (see Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 468). The words of James were also a great support: "My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience" (1:2,3).
In three weeks' time I had
complete use of my arm.
