About two years ago I made a commitment to deepen my study of Christian Science in order to discover more of the spiritual truths in the Bible and in Mrs. Eddy's writings. I rose an hour earlier each day to study these books more carefully and to read the Bible Lesson. This study answered my questions and strengthened my understanding of God and Christian Science. I became more aware that man is not material but spiritual—made in the likeness of God, perfect, whole, and always harmonious.
As I grew more confident, I saw that Christian Science practice involves learning to trust God in every aspect of our lives, so we can fully demonstrate our real nature as God's idea, man. Last spring, 1 had the opportunity to put such trust into practice through a healing I experienced.
Over a period of several days, I felt weak with fever and flu-like symptoms; there was also swelling in the joints, and it was uncomfortable to walk. I decided it would be best to stay home from work to rest, pray, and work closely with a Christian Science practitioner whom I asked to treat me through prayer.
