CONVERSATIONS

A grateful parent, not a watchdog

From the April 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Bonwich lives in a 110-year-old farmhouse near St. Louis, Missouri, with her husband, Joe, their five daughters (including two sets of twins) all under the age of eleven, and five animals.

In a contribution to a book titled I Am Beautiful: A dialogue with women across America (Sole Sisters, Inc.), she wrote: "Every day greets me with five big smiles and five pairs of bright eyes. I know this is heaven on earth." And to a Lifetime television audience in the United States Last September, she said, "The more years that I put into being a Mom, the less of a need I feel to say, I used to have a career, I used to be this, I used to be that.... Now, I just say, I am a Mom ... and I love every minute of it."

With all the girls now at school, Jennifer was a little freer to talk with us about the task of supervising this large and happy family.
