Early one Sunday morning before church, our youngest daughter came into our bedroom, complaining of bug bites on her legs. She did have several spots on her legs, although they did not appear to be the result of an insect. We talked for several minutes about God's love for her and how He had never made anything (whether spots or bugs) to harm her. We dressed for church, and she remained her happy self for the remainder of the day. I prayed again later that day, affirming her inseparability from God. While giving her a bath that night, however, it appeared that the condition was spreading rapidly, so I called a practitioner to pray with us. I am so grateful for the support of all practitioners and for their single-hearted devotion to helping others see the truth.
I began with joy to pray to see our daughter's spotless purity. This was a major breakthrough for me, for although I saw the need for conscientious prayer, I can honestly say I was not afraid.
In The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, Mary Baker Eddy writes: "God creates man perfect and eternal in His own image. Hence man is the image, idea, or likeness of perfection—an ideal which cannot fall from its inherent unity with divine Love, from its spotless purity and original perfection" (p. 262).
