It is time for me to put on record my gratitude for Mary Baker Eddy, for Christian Science practitioners, and for the Christian Science periodicals, which bring us the inspired Word that heals.
I fell away from the practice of Christian Science during my college years, succumbing to the temptations of drinking and drugs. Needing to gain control of my life, I took a semester of study abroad and there instantly quit both drinking and drugs when I resumed the practice of Science. That has been over nineteen years ago. Fresh from this inspiration, I married, graduated with honors from a top business school, and started my own business.
A most important healing to me during this time occurred during my pursuit of a world title in cycling and running races. I was hit by a car and broke a bone in my shoulder. At first I sought medical assistance. But when the surgeon diagnosed it as not worth repairing surgically, I radically relied on my daily study in a Christian Science Reading Room to learn about my relation to God and His care of His children. I was perfectly healed, and later that year won a world title while continuing to devote time daily to study and prayer.
