From the June 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One Of The Delightful Tasks of putting together a magazine is reviewing dozens of possibilities of artwork to illustrate the articles. The Journal often draws on historical renderings of Biblical events. While we were looking for an illustration for this month's article "The angel got in," a staff member brought in a photograph he took of a prison in the Holy Land. Seeing that windowless fortress of stone underscored for us an important message, brought out in several articles this month: the power of Christ can penetrate that which looks impenetrable.

Our cover feature, "The Christlike basis for healing," explores the understanding of spiritual identity and God's love that makes possible the healing of disease through spiritual means, as Christ Jesus illustrated through his works. And other articles show how this understanding can be applied specifically to a wide spectrum of life problems. Our hope and expectation is that through the pages of this month's Journal, many angels will get in to darkened places and light them up with the radiance of God's chainbreaking, freedom-bringing love.
