I attended Christian Science Sunday School as a child, then had an intermittent connection with Christian Science for about thirty years, until 1995. At that time I discovered a deep appreciation of the Bible and Science and Health through a system of meditation that found me repeating, among other inspired passages, hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal, "the scientific statement of being" from Science and Health (see p. 468), the Lord's Prayer, the twenty-third and ninety-first Psalms, and St. Paul's discourse on love (see I Cor., chap. 13). This led to a wholehearted return to Christian Science study and practice, including class instruction and membership in The Mother Church and a branch Church of Christ, Scientist.
I claimed freedom from pain and fear.
Not long ago I experienced a recurrence of a painful back condition. Instead of using medications to relieve the symptoms as I might have done before, I decided to use the truths of being I had been learning from my study of Christian Science.
