The kind of waiting that gets you moving

Waiting on God is anything but boring.

From the September 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Active waiting on God is a very powerful form of prayer. For me, this kind of waiting has involved a commitment to get off dead center, old ways of thinking and acting, and to expect forward movement and progress.

I've learned that the desire to align my thoughts and life with God can be the beginning of active waiting. It's a yearning for closer communion with God, to feel more deeply the presence of divine Love. It involves watchfulness and alertness to thoughts that divert me from the inner peace that comes from spiritual communing. The more consciously I've held this desire to wait on God, even as I go around my daily activities, the more it has become a priority for me. And my capacity to be patient with myself and my immediate situation has grown as I look for the waiting process to bring needed insight.

My capacity to be patient with myself has grown.
