Church of Christ, Scientist, opens library dedicated to legacy of Mary Baker Eddy after extensive renovation

Fountain of inspiration

From the November 2002 issue of The Christian Science Journal

BOSTON - To find the newest sacred space in Boston, just cross Massachusetts Avenue opposite Tru Value Hardware.

In three weeks, The Mary Baker Eddy Library for the Betterment of Humanity will open its doors to seekers, scholars, students and just plain sightseers who want to explore the spiritual world of a remarkable—and sometimes misunderstood—woman.

A two-year renovation project has transformed 81,000 square feet of the publishing house of the Church of Christ, Scientist, at 200 Massachusetts Ave. into a $50 million research library with several interactive galleries where visitors of all faiths can find solace and inspiration.
