Pray-ers on the street

From the November 2002 issue of The Christian Science Journal

As the Journal editorial staff talked about this focus on prayer, it was clear that we couldn't just stay at our desks. We wanted to hear what our neighbors are thinking about prayer. With that in mind, staffers Thomas de France and Jenny Sawyer, along with photographer Joy Cusack, wielding her camera, took to the streets of Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts. Here's what they discovered.

My middle name, Aradhana, literally means "prayer" in Hindi. I hear a lot from people that if you have faith, it's a great healer. Prayer can get you through a lot of difficult moments. It can keep people calm, happy, and healthy, and you have no fear, generally. Prayer keeps you from fretting or worrying about things unnecessarily.
