From the November 2002 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Prayer–almost everybody does it. Even in the United States, over 80 percent of people polled by the Barna Research Group in September reported that they pray. And in Frontlines this month you'll find a cross-section of praying people.

Given the needs in the world community, we asked a handful of authors to talk about how they pray about earthquakes, floods, and other situations. Then there's prayer for physical healing. Another section of the magazine includes excerpts from a panel on spiritual healing that was presented at the 2002 Annual Meeting & Conference here in Boston last June. Also, two authors tell how they chose to become professional healers.

Since many Americans observe National Bible Week in November, our section "A world of sacred texts" explores the Christian Bible and Science and Health With Key to the Scriptures. In addition, this month's Faith Communities column offers short descriptions of the Scriptures studied by some of the other faiths in the world, along with a summary of their beliefs.
