KIDS' PLACE

Mile trial

From the March 2005 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It was a regular day at school except for the fact that I had to run a mile for PE. I had gotten only one week's notice about this, and I was very worried. I'm not the greatest runner. And I felt like I would let my whole class down if I didn't finish.

My grandma knew I had to do the mile run, and the night before, she called and shared some Bible verses with me. I thought the verses really described how I was feeling and what I should do. Both were from Isaiah.

The first said: "He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; he offers strength to the weak. Even youths will become exhausted, and young men will give up. But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint." Isa. 40:29–31 (New Living Translation).
