In the book of Psalms in the Bible, it says, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits” (103:2). With a grateful heart, I would like to bear witness to God’s goodness.
While attending a class, I suddenly felt a pain in my abdomen, which became more and more intense. My study of Christian Science has taught me that the symptoms of a disease give false testimony about our true nature as a child of God, which is perfect. I silently affirmed “the scientific statement of being” from the Christian Science textbook, which begins, “There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter” (Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 468).
The thought that matter can convey no intelligence, no message, and no judgment helped me stay until the end of the class. Then I got on the subway, intending to call a Christian Science practitioner to help me through prayer when I got home.
