Christ Jesus demonstrated that putting God first in daily life takes humility and an unselfed love. Before he was taken by the soldiers and tried, and with the crucifixion in his future, he yielded his human desire to God, and humbly prayed, “Thy will be done” (Matthew 26:42). Jesus’ example has been an inspiration to me over the years, since yielding my will to God’s will is a lesson I have been learning.
An example of this came up recently on a church committee. Members were excited about redecorating a part of the church. I have an art background and had definite thoughts of my own, but other members had different ideas. I was skeptical about some of the things they wanted to do. Although I really like and respect my fellow members, I didn’t agree with them.
I realized that brotherly love was more important than color or décor.
