My comfort zone, or the Comforter’s zone?

From the March 2017 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Sometimes when I feel uneasy about a situation, this inspired thought brings me peace: “I may not be in my comfort zone, but I’m always in the Comforter’s zone.”

Many Christians are familiar with the concept of the Comforter, as promised by Christ Jesus. In the Gospel of John, Jesus reassured his followers, “I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth” (14:16, 17). Through my study of Christian Science I understand Jesus’ promise to have been fulfilled in a very specific way.

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer of Christian Science, states, “This Comforter I understand to be Divine Science” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 55). Later in the book she further explains, “In the year 1866, I discovered the Christ Science or divine laws of Life, Truth, and Love, and named my discovery Christian Science” (p. 107).
