My journey to understand our uninterrupted divine Life

From the May 2017 issue of The Christian Science Journal

With my emergence into the study and understanding of Christian Science (see “The gift of Christmas healing,” Journal, December 2005), I had significant healings through the help at different times of several fine and inspired Christian Science practitioners. One was a Christian Science teacher who did so much to help me; we’d spend hours talking about the Bible and spirituality. I felt he was “the business” (“the real thing”).

One day I called him up and was told, “He’s not here … I’m sorry, but he’s passed on!”

I was dumbfounded. How could that have happened? Why had his prayer apparently failed to restore his health in this case? What was happening to this dear man now? At first I fretted deeply over the passing of my friend. But in the mental darkness I realized I was not going to get an answer by trying to figure it out from a human and material reference point. What I needed to see and feel was the light of God’s love and life and law. I needed to radically acknowledge, affirm, and then realize the complete omnipresence of divine Life.
