Through the years, among the many blessings I’ve received from the study and practice of Christian Science is that of physical healing. I hope sharing one particular healing will bring comfort and inspiration to others.
About six years ago, while living in another state, my sister, her friend, and I met for dinner one evening. As the evening progressed, I began feeling extremely tired, and upon arriving home I decided to take a short rest. However, I woke up more than two hours later feeling very ill and had trouble standing.
I immediately began to pray for myself, holding to the fact that “God is love” (I John 4:8). At one point I noticed an affliction in a tender area of my body, and the appearance was alarming. I knew I needed to “look away from the body” (Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 261), because the physical senses can’t testify truly to our state of health. I kept my thought on God—Truth and Love—and what God was telling me about my perfection as God’s reflection.
