In early 2016, I had a severe reaction after using a hair dye that I had used many times before. My scalp became inflamed, and soon rashes appeared on my face and neck. The condition was affecting me all day and at night when I tried to sleep.
I had grown up attending a Christian Science Sunday School, but I was not practicing Christian Science at the time. I sought help from a very kind doctor, who tried to ease the pain with several medications and methods but could not clear up the problem. The rashes eventually spread across my whole body from head to toe, and I was in severe discomfort, which prevented me from doing even simple tasks around the house.
After six months without improvement, I was diagnosed as having an autoimmune disease disorder. The doctor said that I would need medication—which carried with it several risks—for the rest of my life.
