The divine laws of Life, Truth, and Love are the very essence of Christian Science. Mary Baker Eddy discovered these laws through her study of the Bible and expounded them in her book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. These are the laws by which Christ Jesus healed. They express God’s nature as Truth, Life, and Love, and sustain continuous harmony, health, and goodness throughout spiritual creation.
Knowing that these laws are always in operation, Jesus declared that “the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17). And he said in the Lord’s Prayer—his model for all prayer—“Thy kingdom come” (Matthew 6:10).
Inspired by this assurance—that God’s kingdom is come—Mrs. Eddy wrote a simple prayer she called the “Daily Prayer”: “ ‘Thy kingdom come;’ let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love be established in me, and rule out of me all sin; and may Thy Word enrich the affections of all mankind, and govern them!” (Manual of The Mother Church, p. 41). To me, this prayer expresses a humble desire to let God’s nature shine through us in daily life.
