For about twenty years I dealt with bleeding hemorrhoids. About every three months they bled profusely. When this occurred, I would pray and they would stop bleeding in about three days, but the condition continued. I had accepted that I would have this problem for the rest of my life. I felt I could put up with it. I did not ask a Christian Science practitioner to help, as I was embarrassed because of the type of problem.
Several years ago, I was speaking with a Christian Science friend who wondered why some conditions were healed, while others were not. His question haunted me. Why hadn’t the hemorrhoids been healed, when I had been healed of so many other things at other times? So, I asked God for an answer, and I started hearing angel messages, or ideas, in thought from God.
Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer of Christian Science, indicates in her book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures that we grow through trials. She states, “Trials are proofs of God’s care” (p. 66).
