At this time of year, many of us reflect on our lives and resolve to do better. We may consider the example of individuals we admire, and then attempt to model their good qualities. Many throughout the world love to consider the life of Christ Jesus as the supreme example to mold ourselves after.
The Gospels illustrate in glorious detail the vastness of the life of Jesus. He was the greatest individual to ever walk this planet, and the most prolific healer of all time. What an example for us!
He expected his followers to heal also. He said, “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8). For over a century, readers of this magazine have endeavored to follow that admonition. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer of the Science of Jesus’ teachings and Founder of The Christian Science Journal, turned to the Bible since childhood and studied it devotedly, and she went on to look for a definite rule whereby to practice Christian healing. When others tried to stop her, she continued on.
