Two thousand years ago, Christ Jesus came to teach the world about truth. This long-awaited, prophesied Messiah, or anointed one, was devoted irrevocably to the worship of God, Spirit. The truth Jesus revealed was a kingdom that is not of the earth—not of the flesh—but of the Spirit.
He revealed man’s oneness with God, with the one divine Father-Mother. We read in First John, “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God. . . . Beloved, now are we the sons of God” (3:1, 2). This implies a whole new way of thinking, because the Father, God, is Spirit, and therefore His offspring must be wholly spiritual.
Jesus often urged people to repent, which in the Greek means to “think differently” (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible). He pointed out the necessity of clearing out old, material views of life to make room for the new, spiritual way of thinking. Two opposites—matter and Spirit—cannot exist simultaneously. Jesus revealed the great reality that Spirit created all; therefore, matter, the opposite of Spirit, must be and is unreal.
