As a lifelong Christian Scientist, I have had many wonderful physical healings through the application of the truths taught in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. One particular example of healing has long served as a source of inspiration for me.
One evening, more than 33 years ago, I became very ill. I could not keep any food down, and I was having extreme internal pain. I called a Christian Science practitioner who had helped me in the past with other problems and asked for prayerful treatment. My wife, also a Christian Scientist, was praying with me too.
The practitioner calmly and confidently shared many wonderful spiritual ideas. I distinctly remember her telling me that God is All. For several hours during the night I tried to ponder these ideas and to cling to simple truths learned during my Sunday School days, but the pain was such that all I could say or think was, “God is Love.”
