“New possibilities.” This is one of the natural effects of true philanthropy (see Mary Baker Eddy, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, pp. 287–288). As Trustees Under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy (TUW), we’ve been considering the impact of her ongoing generosity to help promote and extend Christian Science. Today, as we look at the contemporary landscape of humanity and see both the enormous challenges facing our world as well as the spiritual resources unlocked by Christian Science, we recognize that branch churches are best positioned to share “new possibilities” of thought and action in their communities.
We’re inviting you and your branch membership to consider how the Manual-based activity of Reading Rooms offers a unique place of engagement with the healing ideas of this Science. We’d love to hear from you.
There are grant funds available from the trust established under Clause 8 of Mary Baker Eddy’s will. These funds are devoted to the primary purpose of more effectually promoting and extending the religion of Christian Science as taught by Mary Baker Eddy. Reading Rooms, along with being places to study, pray, and better understand this Science, offer an embracing way for churches to promote and extend the healing message of Christian Science in their communities. Therefore, we invite branches to give special consideration to the new possibilities and opportunities that their Reading Rooms provide.
