Testimonies of Healing

Damaged foot healed

From the June 2024 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Last year as my adult son was about to go out to work, he said he couldn’t find something he needed. We were living together at the time and I offered to help look for it. I went into his bedroom, and as I moved something on his high chest of drawers, I knocked a dumbbell off the top, and it suddenly dropped onto my foot with a very loud crash. The pain was intense and my son ran into the room to come to my aid.

It was tempting to take my sock off and look at my foot, but I have been used to turning to God, who is infinite Love, to bring me peace and healing from troubles, illnesses, and stresses in life. This was just another opportunity to feel God’s loving presence, and I knew that God’s love was bigger than anything else going on.

We are told in the Bible in Genesis 1: “God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; . . . And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good” (verses 27, 31). I reasoned that nothing can crush or damage an image that is held complete and joyfully free by infinite God. This idea of myself as an image of God helped me let go of wondering about an accident and its effects, and helped me stay with ideas of what made me an image of God—an image that God saw as “very good.”
