Dear Readers,
A hunger for newness. An almost rebellious inner yearning for something, anything, to be different. The beginning of a new year tends to amplify this relatable yearning. If we recognize this as a spiritual thirst, we’re off to a good start.
I often find comfort in Christ Jesus’ assurance that we’re not going to find lasting peace—we’re just not—in the shifting sands of mortal reliances. The master Christian told us that as we look higher, acknowledging the one God’s power, “the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17).
