Of good report

Time can’t box us in

From the January 2025 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it can be easy to lose sight of a spiritual perspective. But my recent journey to India for a work trip became a profound healing demonstration of the power of God, Spirit.

My wife and our two young children, ages two and seven, accompanied me. The adventure began with an intense 27-hour journey from our home in St. Louis to just outside of Delhi. The trip included a 10.5-hour time change and left us exhausted and disoriented. We arrived at our destination at midnight and went to bed. Our children woke at 4 a.m. and my wife and I got up to care for them. Feeling overwhelmed, my wife and I quickly lost our tempers and then tried to calm each other down. The prospect of a long day at the office loomed.

The breaking point arrived at 5 a.m., as a pounding headache and frustration enveloped me. But then I remembered the greatest and most powerful tool I have: prayer. (Long ago, my wife and I had agreed that relying on God was our foundation.) So I turned to the spiritual anchor that has guided me through countless challenges, the Christian Science Bible Lesson.
