Spiritual Short

Before you ask

From the January 2025 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When my relatives and friends were expectant parents, I loved to watch how they prepared places for their precious new babies. With thoughtfulness and love, they picked out the perfect nursery furniture and decor, clothes, and toys. They planned and prepared with joy and expectation. When the little ones arrived, everything they needed was already waiting for them.

Seeing this sweet scenario play out for my little nieces and nephews and friends reminds me of an important spiritual fact: As parents go through all that preparation for their newborns, how much more does our divine Father-Mother God prepare a place for each of us, you and me, because we are His beloved, precious children. Divine Love has prepared a place for each one of us, with everything we will ever need.

In the spiritual account of creation in Genesis, chapter 1, God prepares a place for man, both male and female, and supplies all their needs before they ever come on the scene on the sixth day. The days of creation aren’t about human time but about divine order, illustrating that God’s unfoldment of our right place and supply beforehand is actually continuously happening, and is a universal law.
