Testimony of Healing

Grateful for recent healings

From the December 2025 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I would like to express my gratitude to God for a few recent healings. Last winter I started to come down with flu symptoms. Right away I recognized that I had been harboring some frustration toward a family member for having asked me to help her with childcare when her children were sick. I contacted a Christian Science practitioner to help me overcome this. I also realized that I had been harboring thoughts of self-justification regarding the way this family member ran her household compared with the way my husband and I ran ours. Now I felt I did not actually care about healing the flu symptoms; I simply wanted to be free of these thoughts.

Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, counsels members of The Mother Church to pray daily to be delivered from condemning thoughts, among other things (see Manual of The Mother Church, p. 40). The extra attention I had been giving to this daily requirement led to my yearning to be free from this error.

The practitioner helped me see that when we hear messages from God, the most important part of that beautiful gift is what we do next—following through on what we have heard. By loving God I would be given the answers to what I needed to do to let go of those feelings. Just being still and loving God.
