Testimony of Healing

Truth heals bite and swelling

From the December 2025 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am grateful to grow in the understanding of Christ, Truth. Through it, we overcome beliefs contrary to the understanding of God as all and good. The Apostle Paul describes the act of overcoming these beliefs as: “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (II Corinthians 10:5). Through disciplined, Christly thinking, we are able to overcome fear when there appears to be a threat to our well-being.

I was challenged with fear once when, after a stay at a camp, I had a tick embedded in my skin that I was unable to remove. There was inflammation and swelling that seemed to grow worse. In quiet prayer, I whole-heartedly asked God what I should do. It became clear to me that prayer would take care of this issue.

After speaking with a Christian Science practitioner to support my prayers, I gained the conviction that “God is at once the centre and circumference of being” (Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, pp. 203–204).
