Dear Friend,
Christmas is a wonderful time to revel in the priceless gift that God gave to us in Jesus. And this issue highlights some of the lessons in the Christmas story. But these insights don’t have to be seasonal.
The beautiful thing about this magazine, as well as our sister publications, the Christian Science Sentinel and The Herald of Christian Science, is that every piece is a celebration of Christ and God. The insights shared by each contributor can spur us on to more spiritual growth. For example, while I’ve always known that Jesus’ teachings are the heart of Christian Science, one of this year’s early Sentinel Watch podcasts made me realize that I hadn’t focused enough on his life and mission. So I’ve spent the last year praying specifically about Jesus’ command to “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils . . .” (Matthew 10:8). Can we actually do all of that? Yes! I’ve come to see that these four commands are actually assurances, not aspirations.
