1953 TAPE RECORDING AVAILABLE The Tuesday evening meeting, entitled "The Healing Work of Christian Science, " which followed this year's Annual Meeting of The Mother Church, is available as a tape recording. Copies can be borrowed by branches of The Mother Church, without charge, for presentation at meetings of their members to take place before January 31, 1954.

FROM THE DIRECTORS Christian Scientists have earned the respect of their friends and neighbors by their Christian living and by their loyalty to the demands which their religion makes on them. Yet the question is often put to them, "Why is the use of tobacco and alcoholic beverages considered inconsistent with the teachings of Christian Science?'' This is a question which deserves a thoughtful answer, for the world greatly needs the moral freedom which the overcoming of the tobacco and liquor habits brings.

Wednesday Evening Meetings [As published in the Christian Science Sentinel, August 5, 1939) It may be of interest to Readers in branch churches to know that at the Wednesday evening meetings held in The Mother Church, the First Reader arranges his Bible readings so as to include references from not more than four separate books of the Bible, and from Science and Health not more than ten correlative passages, and fewer when possible. The actual reading of these selections occupies all together about ten minutes.
