FROM THE DIRECTORS Request to Branch Churches, Societies, and College Organizations The Christian Science periodicals occasionally have carried notices requesting branch churches, societies, and college organizations to send to the Archives of The Mother Church historical accounts relating to the inception and growth of their organizations. Many branches of The Mother Church already have responded to these requests; others have not yet done so.

1953 TAPE RECORDING AVAILABLE The Tuesday evening meeting, entitled "The Healing Work of Christian Science, " which followed this year's Annual Meeting of The Mother Church, is available as a tape recording. Copies can be borrowed by branches of The Mother Church, without charge, for presentation at meetings of their members to take place before January 31, 1954.

FROM THE DIRECTORS Christian Scientists have earned the respect of their friends and neighbors by their Christian living and by their loyalty to the demands which their religion makes on them. Yet the question is often put to them, "Why is the use of tobacco and alcoholic beverages considered inconsistent with the teachings of Christian Science?'' This is a question which deserves a thoughtful answer, for the world greatly needs the moral freedom which the overcoming of the tobacco and liquor habits brings.
