The frequent use of the word sedative in the world today challenges the thoughtful. Often the expected result of a material sedative is the coming of sleep, of temporary forgetfulness of some undesirable sensation or circumstance.

Some years ago an experienced practitioner and I were discussing the problem of the unreceptive patient and other problems that occur in the practice of Christian Science. At that time I was unduly impressed with the resistance to Truth arguing to many seeking Christian Science help.
To the new student of Christian Science, this Science may seem so vast that he may question what basic essentials he should try to grasp and hold to first.
