When Christ Jesus gave his disciples the command, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature,"Mark 16:15; he expected them to obey. And they did. "They went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following."
The present-day disciple who desires to follow the Way-shower can obey this mandate according to his individual understanding of Christian Science. He should not be passive or submissive to the suggestion that he is not ready or willing to obey any one of Jesus' requirements. In humility and gratitude he should put into practice as much as he spiritually understands of intelligence as God's reflection and thus be able to "preach the gospel" and demonstrate in some degree the healing power of Truth and Love.
Preaching the gospel and healing the sick are very closely related. As Christian scientists we know and have proven many times for ourselves and others that the sick as well as the sinning are healed through the power of God's Word and the prayerful application of His unchanging spiritual law. Mrs. Eddy tells us: "Through the word that is spoken unto you, are you made free. Abide in His word, and it shall abide in you; and the healing Christ will again be made manifest in the flesh— understood and glorified."Miscellaneous Writings, p. 154;
