The Highest Mission on Earth

From the August 1967 issue of The Christian Science Journal

These words of Mrs. Eddy occur in a letter to one of her students: "A real scientific Healer is the highest position attainable in this sphere of being." In the same letter she points out: "Your aid to reach this goal is spiritualization. To achieve this you must have one God, one affection, one way, one Mind." Mary Baker Eddy: A Life Size Portrait by Lyman P. Powell, 1950 Edition, p. 316;

Healing is the very foundation of the Christian Science movement. Without healing we should have no movement. And Mrs. Eddy based all her healing work on Love. When she was teaching one class she asked, "What is the best way to do instantaneous healing?" After some answers from the class, she said, as one of the students recalled: "I will tell you the way to do it. It is to love! Just live love—be it —love, love, love. Do not know anything but Love. Be all love. There is nothing else. That will do the work. It will heal everything; it will raise the dead. Be nothing but love."We Knew Mary Baker Eddy, Second Series, pp. 49, 50;

The Christian Scientist's greatest need today is for more of the Christ-spirit, which gives spiritual vitality, life, and power to the letter of Christian Science and brings the living truth into the human experience with healing. Christ Jesus healed all manner of disease wherever he went, and he left this command for his followers: "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give."Matt. 10:8;
