Have you ever thought how important currents are? There are currents of water, currents of air, currents of thought, and so on. They mold our lives; they mold history.
The Passover, the most solemn religious feast of the Hebrew calendar, was drawing near, and people from all directions were arriving in Jerusalem for the occasion. During the many generations since the night of the Israelites' exodus from slavery in Egypt, which the Passover commemorated, a number of innovations had come to be associated with the ancient ceremony.
My individual approach to the study of the Lesson-Sermon begins with prayer— prayer for receptivity and inspiration and a denial of animal magnetism in the form of dullness, apathy, resistance, or interference. What words are more poignant than, "He (or she) always understands"? Understanding is a quality we yearn for and appreciate most in a relative, a friend, or anyone especially close. We hear much about physical fitness and, indeed, it is important. But what about starting the day with divinely mental push-ups, a spiritual upsurging of thought? Heartfelt prayer and praise, prior to a new day's activities, give expansion to our thinking.
Is any disease incurable? No! A so called incurable disease is one for which, from a medical standpoint, no medicinal or surgical cure has been found. But there is a law of God applicable to the healing of every disease—chronic, crippling, or malignant.
The story is told that a venerable sage, asked what in life had given him the greatest satisfaction, replied, "A child who went down the road singing after he had asked me the way. " Many of us as parents and teachers know the joy of helping a child find the way in life.

Who at various times has not felt a deep urge to reach out and help a friend struggling to maintain his way in life? Many have become so forgetful of themselves in their desire to help others that they have found themselves lifted from their own worries and fears, and often even healed of a physical illness. This basic element in humankind, this urge to help and extend kindness to one's brother, is universal and inherent in human beings.
