Testimonies of Healing

It is nearly eight years since I began studying the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I had been married about seven years, and had been ill at least half of the time.

It was about twelve years ago that I received my first healing through the application of Christian Science. From a child I had seemed to be subject to sore throat, and at the time above referred to I had a most acute attack of this trouble, which culminated in quinsy.

Christian Science came to me in an hour of desperate need. I had been suffering for some time from tubercular trouble of the lungs, and had exhausted many material remedies.

About seven years ago I was led to take up the study of Christian Science through the healing of a dear friend who had previously suffered from nearly all the ills that "flesh is heir to. " This healing seemed so marvelous that I decided to look further into the subject.

When I remember it was on the eve of the year 1916 that I accepted Christian Science, I think it time that I openly acknowledge my gratitude to God and the dear friend who had been for some time previous lending me copies of the Christian Science Sentinel . I thought the reading fine, and the testimonies, at that early stage of enlightenment, almost too good to be true; but gradually it dawned upon me that this was the truth that Jesus taught.

I became interested in Christian Science about nine years ago through my mother's great need of help. At that time the attending physician told her frankly he could not do anything more for her.

A recent healing which my husband has had through Christian Science was from an injured knee joint, when, according to medical belief, an operation appeared necessary. My husband was away at the time attention was first called to it, but immediately asked help of a Christian Science practitioner, who lovingly assisted him until he arrived home, when he asked another practitioner to take charge of the case.

I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. Before coming into Christian Science I was suffering from a goiter.

I have been wonderfully benefited through the application of Christian Science, and have had many demonstrations. The healings have not always been instantaneous, but those that have been delayed have given me an opportunity for more study of the truth.

In the hope that I might receive relief from tuberculosis of the lungs through change of climate, my physician in Illinois advised my going West. My physical condition was such, however, that he thought it best for me to make the change gradually, so I spent a year in Kansas.
