Testimonies of Healing
" Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you," said Jesus. Five years ago, when I began the study of Christian Science, the significance of this admonition began to dawn upon my thought.
For thirty years I had been a sufferer, in bed the greater part of that time. I had several doctors diagnose my case, but they all differed as to what ailed me.
I should like to express sincere gratitude for the better understanding of God I am receiving through the study of Christian Science. To know that we are able to have and maintain dominion over our bodies, bringing them into subjection, with the aid of divine Love, seems so wonderful and beautiful that it is worth any sacrifice we may be called upon to make.
About five years ago I was a mental and physical wreck, obsessed with the thought of suicide and unable to see a ray of hope. I had suffered from a most persistent cold for three years, and finally tuberculosis added the last bitter drop to my days.
MY first healing in Christian Science was when I was a child just learning to walk. I fell and broke two lower ribs on the left side.
MY first reading of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, was due to curiosity, as I was then an active worker in another church. I had taken a little child into my home; and in the need of physical healing for this little one, I turned to Christian Science.
In 1920, when all seemed dark and hopeless, the doctor told me it was no use giving me any more medicine, as it was doing me no good. He said I had acute bronchitis and that senile decay was in evidence.
Out of gratitude for the benefits I have received from Christian Science I should like to give the following testimony. I am sixty-five years old, and became interested in Christian Science two years and a half ago.
More than seventeen years ago we moved to a place where a Christian Science practitioner was our next-door neighbor. There was great need of healing in our home.
I should like to tell at least a part of what Christian Science has dons for me; for it found me a human wreck, and has made me a useful citizen. I turned to it for help thirteen years ago, after being a semi-invalid for ten years, in bed most of that time.
