Testimonies of Healing

[Original testimony in German] In 1909 my husband caught a bad cold, to which we did not at first pay much attention. However, it grew worse, so that he was frequently compelled to stay in bed.

It is with a heart full of gratitude to God and to Christian Science that I tell of the first two healings I had in Christian Science. I was discharged from the army as a physical wreck.

Through the study and application of the truth as revealed to us in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and the other writings of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, my whole life has been changed. From early childhood to womanhood I suffered from one illness after another, until a fall on the stairs sent me to the hospital, where it seemed necessary to submit to surgery.

For twenty years before this blessed truth found me I had searched for remedies, and had tried everything that offered any hope of relief from the bondage of sickness, which would manifest itself in various forms. During a period of about three years I tried twelve doctors in Chicago.

When the thought came to me to send an expression of gratitude to the Christian Science periodicals, it was quickly followed by the suggestion to wait until I had had a wonderful healing in Christian Science. Then I thought, What could be more wonderful than the way I have been protected ever since I took up this study? From the time I was six months old, when I had a very serious illness, until I came into Science many years ago, I was never free from the fear of having some of the physical troubles to which I was subject.

I wish to express my gratitude for the many benefits I have received since taking up the study of Christian Science. Whether the problem is large or small, however deep the waters of error may seem to be, Truth is the victor if we faint not.

One evening I slipped on the ice and fell, injuring my left wrist. That night it seemed very painful, and I slept little.

I am greatly indebted to the teachings of Christian Science, for on many occasions I have experienced help in times of severe sickness and discordant conditions. The more carefully and more devotedly I study this Science and apply its teachings in daily life, the more clearly I see and recognize the great blessing that it contains.

I have received many blessings since I have known of Christian Science, and feel deeply grateful to God for having led me to this glorious truth, which makes men free. It has shown me more and more the meaning of the words, "God is love.

This testimony is but a faint expression of gratitude for the restoration of my sight, which was slowly leaving me, and for the healing of anæmia. At the age of ten years I became afflicted with inflammation of the eyes, and was compelled to wear glasses all the time.
