Testimonies of Healing
I desire to express my deep appreciation for all the good Christian Science has brought into my life. It has healed me of a quick temper, of colds and neuralgia, and of headache of an abscessed tooth, of burns, and of many other minor ailments of the flesh.
Many undesirable traits in my disposition have been and are being constantly destroyed by right thinking as taught in Christian Science. I am filled with joy in having found the "pearl of great price"' and in having its power demonstrated in overcoming the ills to which the flesh is heir, both through my own understanding and with the help of a practitioner.
Some three years ago, while my mother was having treatment from a Christian Science practitioner, I received my first healing in Christian Science, when a diseased condition of the scalp, for which I had tried material means without results, was healed in less than two weeks. A Few years ago I became suddenly ill with an ulcer of the abdomen, and for four weeks lay in bed suffering severely. To this was added peritonitis.
The testimonies in our periodicals have been so helpful to us that I feel it a duty as well as a privilege to express a few words of gratitude through them, hoping that some one may be benefited, for, in the words of one of our hymns (No. 86), Ceasing to give, we cease to have, Such is the law of love.
Prior to taking up the study of Christian Science I was most severely opposed to what it seemed to be, and condemned it bitterly. As time went on, however, I began to feel less opposition toward it, and finally, much to my own surprise, found myself willing to listen to an explanation of it.
I am a living witness to the demonstrable truth of Mrs. Eddy's statement: "Christian Science is always the most skilful surgeon, but surgery is the branch of its healing which will be last acknowledged" (Science and Health, p.
