Testimonies of Healing
I Feel glad to express my deep gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. It is now teen years since I first heard about it through a friend who took me to a Sunday service.
I became interested in Christian Science a number of years ago, when suffering from a nervous breakdown, with weakness and mental distress, also loss of sleep, suggestions of self-destruction dread of insanity, and fear of ending my days in an asylum. I was in hell day and night and my one desire was that God would take me out of my misery.
I am thinking it is time to make acknowledgment of the blessings received from the study of Christian Science. The first benefit that came to me was freedom from neuralgia, which had caused me much suffering for years and for which no material remedy seemed to give relief; also recovery from diabetes of nearly a year's standing.
I have we read so many testimonies in the Sentinel and Journal by which I have been benefited that I am ashamed for not sending mine sooner. I found Christian Science several years ago, and I did not find it any too soon for I had one foot about in the grave, but thanks to God and our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, I was snatched from it in time.
The Wednesday evening testimony meeting is such a blessing to all who have the privilege of attending, but there are so many who are unable to participate and I feel that our Journal and Sentinel are further channels for this blessing, so I wish to contribute this testimony. For many years it has been my joy to acquaint myself with the teachings of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
In the parable of the great supper, as recorded in the fourteenth chapter of Luke's gospel, "And the lord said unto the servant. Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled," if taken literally, is the brief history of my advent into Christian Science.
Twenty years ago, within six weeks of graduation, I was forced to leave a western university owing to a severe attack of nervous prostration. For months I treated with an allopath, a masseuse, an osteopath, and finally with an oculist, thinking possibly there might be some eye defect which was causing the disturbance.
To say I am grateful for Christian Science seems but an atom of appreciation, as it has enabled me to overcome seemingly difficult circumstances. Some time ago, while crossing the street on my way to business, I was run into by an automobile and thrown about eight feet.
Christian Science has brought so many blessings to me and mine that I wish to testify to some of them in the hope that they may help some one else. I suffered from a goiter for four or five years and doctored all of that time, improving so that I was able to get out but was not entirely cured.
I wish to add my testimony to those of others who are grateful for the experience of Christian Science healing. One case of healing which has been of inestimable benefit to me occurred some years ago at a time when I was very much occupied in business.
